The term water blaster is used interchangeably with the term pressure washer. These two essentially refer to one and the same piece of equipment. Washers are used for small menial around the home projects as well as heavy duty industrial site application. At the industrial site one can expert to see heavy build washers mounted on wheels or a trailer which run on gasoline. This ensures that these industrial water blasters release very high pressure which can be used to strip paint off walls and cars, remove graffiti and posters as well as grease and oil amongst other tough jobs.
Unknown to many the real source of this high pressure is a little attachment at the end of the washer wand called a nozzle. Nozzles are so important so much that without them there is absolutely no meaningful pressure to be expected out of a washer. A nozzle determines the final PSI output of any given washer. Manufacturers have developed a variety of nozzles in order to control the amount of pressure released by a washer. These are known in degrees. A zero degree nozzle will release the highest intensity of pressure in straight line and can be used to remove the most difficult dirt.
Other nozzle degrees include 25 degrees and 40 degrees amongst others. They can produce less direct water spray which is used to clean certain surfaces without damaging them. The mechanical effect behind a nozzle is very simple to understand. It simply restricts the flow of water coming out at the end of the wand. By doing so it varies pressure levels being released. Depending on the model of a washer unit, some units are shipped with what is commonly known as a variable nozzle. This allows the user to change from one nozzle degree to another without detaching the nozzle. Industrial washer normally use detachable nozzles which will need to be physically changed to attach a different one.
The importance of nozzles in determining the level of pressure released by a washer is further demonstrated by the existence of the turbo nozzle. This is a special nozzle that can be attached to a variety of washer models from different manufacturers. It facilitates higher pressure to be releases from an ordinarily low washer. for example, this type of nozzle can add another 500 psi to a 1500psi washer making it a 2000psi washer. This will enable that washer to do a greater job can be done by a 200psi washer.
